Holden Vaughan clocks fastest time in freshman mile

Barrington High School's Holden Vaughan won freshman mile event at the last week's Rhode Island Classic Invitational meet at the Providence Career and Technical Academy. Vaughan clocked a time of 4:45.71.

The Eagles' Walter Joachim-Delpoio ran to a second place finish in the 55-meter hurdles. His time of 7.96 seconds was a personal best. 

Boys basketball

The Barrington High School boys basketball team split against competition in the East Bay Holiday Tournament — the Eagles lost 76-46 against North Kingstown and defeated Holy Name High School 68-58.

Against the Skippers, the Eagles fell behind 44-26 at halftime and were unable to close the gap in the second half. William Rywolt finished the game as Barrington's leading scorer with 18 points. Ben Silvia added eight points, while Ben Batting and Jonathan Adamson each finished with six. 

The Skippers are undefeated, while Barrington dropped to 4-1 overall with the loss.

Brendan Conaty led the Eagles with 18 points in the win over Holy Name High School on Friday. Conaty was one of four Eagles to finish in double-digits for scoring — Silvia dropped in 13, Rywolt had 11 and Ryan Bonneau scored 10. Batting added eight points for the Eagles.
