Barrington improved to 9-1 after three wins last week. On Wednesday, Sept. 27, Barrington defeated Lincoln School 7-0. Caroline Maher, Hope Robertson, Elizabeth Wang and Andreea Dan each won their singles matches, while the pairs of Jillian and Abigail Walter, Alexis Brenner and Lauren Jay, and Hope Vetromile and Corina Drimbarean won their doubles matches.

Against Smithfield on Thursday, Barrington rolled to a 6-1 victory. Maher, Wang and Dan each won their singles matches in straight sets, as did the doubles teams of Abigail and Jillian Walter, Brenner and Jay, and Eve Stockwell and Rayna Mishra. 

On Friday, Barrington defeated Westerly High School, 6-1. Robertson, Wang and Dan won their singles matches, while the Walters sisters, Brenner and Jay, and Drimbarean and Stockwell won in doubles.

Football

The Eagles fell to 1-2 in Division I standings after suffering a 53-14 loss to LaSalle Academy in Providence on Friday night. The Eagles and Rams were knotted at 6-6 at the end of the first quarter, but LaSalle exploded for 33 second quarter points to open a 39-6 halftime lead. Dante Augustine and Nick Roach each found the end zone for Barrington, and the Eagles also recorded a safety against the 1-1 Rams.

Barrington returns home for a game against Central High School on Friday night. Kickoff at Victory Field is at 7 p.m. Central is 1-3 in the division.

Boys' soccer

Barrington tied LaSalle 1-1 in a showdown at Victory Field last Tuesday night, and lost to North Kingstown, 2-0, on the road on Thursday, Sept. 28.

Against the Rams, the Eagles fell behind 1-0 with about 20 minutes remaining in the game, but Barrington's Owen Bachetti knotted the score at 1-1 late in the second half. Emmanuel Despines made three saves in the tie. 

Girls' soccer

The Barrington High School girls' soccer team gave up two second half goals and lost 2-0 against Mt. Hope in a Division I game on Monday night. Barrington played Mt. Hope even for most of the game, but the Huskies were able to net two goals with 14 minutes remaining. Jenna Park finished the game with three saves for Barrington.

Barrington celebrated its first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Exeter-West Greenwich on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Olivia Middleton, Anna Downes and Kamryn Voutes each scored, while Cary Heterick finished the game with an assist. 

On Friday, Barrington lost to Lincoln High School, 2-1. Downes scored in the first half for the Eagles while Petra Bertoncini assisted on the goal. Park made a game-high 12 saves in net.

Field hockey 

Barrington suffered its first loss of the season on Friday, dropping a 2-1 game against East Greenwich. The game featured a rematch of last year's Division I state championship game, which Barrington won. Elizabeth Lewis scored in the first half for Barrington, but the Avengers struck with the game-winner with seven minutes remaining.

A day earlier, Barrington blasted Bay View 7-0. Lewis scored four goals and Madelyn Cox finished with two. Lilyanne Dunphy scored a single goal and Claudia Kriz tallied three assists in the victory.

Girls' volleyball

Barrington battled to a 26-24 win in the first game against LaSalle and then rolled to a 3-0 victory with 25-9 and 25-11 victories in the second and third games, respectively. Victoria Mello finished with five blocks and four kills and Grace Angelini had five kills and six digs. 

Barrington suffered its most lopsided loss of the season on Friday, falling 3-0 to undefeated North Kingstown. The scores were 15-25, 26-28 and 20-25.
