Girls basketball

The Barrington High School girls basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 53-48 to Bay View in a Division I game on Friday night.

The Eagles fell behind 31-18 in the first half against Bay View, and worked hard to narrow the gap in the second half. The Eagles actually tied the game with four minutes remaining, but the Bengals were able to pull away down the stretch.

Olivia Middleton, Andrea Kubas-Meyer and Alex Marinelli led the Eagles in scoring, as Middleton finished with 13 and Kubas-Meyer and Marinelli each had 10. Elizabeth McConaghy added eight points.

Barrington had opened the season with a non-league 55-39 win over East Providence. Marinelli and Kubas-Meyer scored double-digits for the Eagles — Marinelli with 21 and Kubas-Meyer with 12.
