Boat runs aground at Touisset Point

DEM handling investigation

Posted

The state Department of Environmental Management is investigating the grounding of a center console fishing boat on Touisset Point some time Friday night or Saturday morning.

Warren Harbormaster Ed Cabral said a Touisset resident spotted the 26 to 28-foot Seaquest center console high and dry early Saturday morning and called him at about 6 a.m.

Mr. Cabral contacted DEM’s enforcement division, and he said officers have taken over the investigation. DEM contacted the owners of the boat, he said.

A photo of the boat taken early Saturday morning shows no obvious damage, and the bow anchor appears to be down.

This story will be updated as information becomes available.
