Boats, beer and bikinis.
There was plenty of all three on the water off Prudence Island Saturday afternoon for the annual “Aquapalooza,” all types of watercraft tied together for a huge floating party off the otherwise quiet island off Bristol. Pleasure craft, jet skis and inflatable floats made up the flotilla around the swimming hole, where the band Wayz and Means rocked the afternoon away.
The party, organized by boat dealer Marinemax Warwick, took place in Potter Cove on the northeastern edge of Prudence Island. The semi-organized event featured music, swimming, dancing and lots of drinking.
On Sunday and Monday, attendees were posting their photos and commenting on the fun on the Aquapalooza Rhode Island Facebook page, which drove much of the publicity of the event.
“Thanks for putting on the event again, great day! Looking forward to next year,” wrote Don Scott.
“It was a great time, like always,” wrote Cindy Banno Browning. “Thanks for putting together such a great event every year.”
Others reminisced on the fun while lamenting the after-affects.
“Two days later. Still feeling the pain. It was worth it,” Brett Foerstel wrote Monday.
