Bristol Police: Blood on the ground, 'selfies' on the bridge, and more

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between Jan. 23 and Jan. 29:

Monday, Jan. 23

A resident on Usher Terrace called police just after 7 a.m. after finding bood on the ground in front of his home. It turned out to be the blood of an animal that had apparently been going through his trash.

A refrigerator was stored outside a home on Ryan Avenue with its doors still on, a violation of town ordinances. A summons was issued to the owner.

Police responded to reports of a fake IDgiven to 1776 Liquors on Metacom Avenue. The would-be customer was gone when police arrived.

A tree fell on a car on Wood Street just before 7 p.m. The Department of Public Works removed the tree.

Tuesday, Jan. 24

A resident on Defiance Drive called police to report a “suspicious” man walking a small dog at 6 a.m. There was nothing suspicious to investigate.

A driver reported being threatened by a man in a green van driving recklessly on Court Street around 12:30 p.m. The caller chased the van, but lost him on Mt. Hope Avenue. He provided police with the van’s license plate number but said he did not want to press charges.

A driver reportedly left Amouri’s Gas and Food Mart on Hope Street without paying for gas. Police investigated but could not find the driver.

Wednesday, Jan. 25

Police responded to reports of internet fraud at a home on Metacom Avenue.

Two people were reportedly taking “selfies” at the top of the Mt. Hope Bridge. Pedestrians are not allowed on the narrow, two-lane span. Police drove the pair to the Portsmouth side of the bridge.

Police responded to an accident at Metacom and Butterworth avenues just before 4 p.m. One driver was brought to St. Ane’s Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

A car was reportedly vandalized on Hope Street at 6 p.m. Officers filed a report.

Thursday, Jan. 26

Police responded to reports of credit card fraud at Bristol Food Mart on Wood Street, and identity theft on Casey Avenue. Officers filed reports; no arrests have been made.

Friday, Jan. 27

Two men reportedly stole a traffic cone from Hope and Bradford streets around 1 a.m. Police tracked them down and made them return the cone.

An unknown man was knocking on the door of a residence on Fox Hill Avenue at 1:30 a.m. Roger Williams University public safety responded.

Police responded to reports of trespassing on Everett Street at 11:30 a.m. No arrest was made.

Saturday, Jan. 28

Police responded to reports of a dispute on Hope Street just after midnight. There were no issues; just a verbal argument.

A “disorderly” woman was dispersed from the RWU campus just before 1 a.m.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Constitution Street. The callers wanted officers to remove an unwanted person, who left before they arrived.

A caller on Shaws Lane reported two small children in the road with no shoes or jackets at 9:30 a.m. The children were just getting the mail.

A resident on Metacom Avenue reported two people were standing in the street recording his home around 1 p.m. The juveniles were dispersed.

A group of juveniles reportedly damaged a fence near the East Bay Bike Path just north of Sip & Dip on Hope Street.

Sunday, Jan. 29

The driver of a black Dodge was reportedly in an argument with another driver while the two were driving northbound on Hope Street at 1 a.m. Police filed a report but made no arrest.
