Bristol police officers arrested six people for offenses including felony assault, domestic assault, domestic vandalism and breaking-and-entering in the past week. They also fielded the usual array of calls about noisy neighbors, bats and dogs.

Bristol Police: Complaints of apple-picking and 'blowing smoke'

Bristol police officers arrested six people for offenses including felony assault, domestic assault, domestic vandalism and breaking-and-entering in the past week. They also fielded the usual array of calls about noisy neighbors, bats and dogs.

Monday, Aug. 17

  • A goat went for a stroll down King Philip Avenue but was guided back home at 7:33 a.m.
  • A Colt Avenue resident reported credit card fraud.
  • Police received a complaint about illegal dumping of scrap metal on Tupelo Street.
  • A Mason Avenue resident reported fraud.
  • A caller from Benjamin Church Manor reported a stolen car. The owner later called back to report finding the car, parked in a different parking space.
  • A caller from Narrows Road complained about an unknown vehicle parked in the driveway at 2:18 p.m. It turned out to be a new car for someone living there.
  • Someone called police to report a man riding a scooter on the sidewalk near the intersection of Wood Street and Woodlawn Avenue at 2:31 p.m.
  • James F. Drolet, 25, of 15 Mt. Pleasant Ave., was arrested on a warrant for larceny of a firearm.
  • Someone from Bristol Toyota reported vehicle parts stolen.
  • Peter Celeste, 26, of Providence, was arrested on a bench warrant issued from Sixth Division District Court in Providence.

Tuesday, Aug. 18

  • A Prospect Street resident reported receiving a fraudulent check.
  • Items were stolen from a car parked at the Pines condominiums.
  • A St. Elizabeth Street resident asked to speak to an officer about a neighbor who was placing trash in front of his property.
  • A BayView Avenue resident reported a bat in the house.

Wednesday, Aug. 19

  • An attempted break-in was reported at Brito Construction/CB Utility.
  • Richard E. Johnson, 47, of 400 Metacom Ave., Apt. 126, was charged with two counts of larceny under $1,500.
  • A Buttonwood Street resident called police after looking out his window to see a man picking apples from his tree. The picker in question told police that he had permission from the previous owner to pick apples, and did not realize the property had changed hands since the last time he had visited.
  • A Metacom Avenue resident complained that a second floor tenant was “blowing smoke” into the third floor tenant’s residence.
  • Mary L. Riley, 57, of 34 Byfield St., was charged twice with larceny under $1,500 and once with breaking and entering.
  • Three people ended up in the water when they tipped two kayaks at the Bristol Narrows. Police reported that all three made it to shore safely.
  • Police were called out to a family disturbance on Harrison Street, an argument between a son and his mother, at 3:55 p.m.
  • Two men were reportedly spotted fighting at Bradford Street and Murphy Avenue around 8 p.m.
  • Joseph Anthony Squatrito, 29, of 4 Monterey Road, was arrested on a bench warrant issued from Second Division District Court.
  • A Carol Avenue resident called police at 9:31 p.m. after hearing two loud bangs coming from the woods behind the residence.

Thursday, Aug. 20

  • Dario P. Melo, 24, of East Providence was charged with domestic vandalism after turning himself in at the station at 9:15 a.m.
  • A Richmond Street resident reported harassment.
  • Police were called to Independence Park for a report of a man screaming and yelling at 4:31 p.m. The man was sent on his way.
  • A Brookfarm Road man told police that his ex-girlfriend entered his home and stole money.
  • A car parked n Mt. Hope Avenue was vandalized.
  • A caller from Easterbrooks Avenue complained of loud noise from a nearby residence at 11:06 p.m. An officer took a noise meter reading and found no violation.

Friday, Aug. 21

  • Someone reported two men, one without a shirt, walking along Court Street and potentially vandalizing vehicles at 1:07 a.m. A responding officer inspected the vehicles and found no damages.
  • A neighbor dispute drew police to Anchorage Court at 8:20 a.m.
  • Someone attempted to pass fake bills at Judge Roy Bean on State Street.
  • An officer responded to Rogers Free Library to assist with a no-trespass order at 10:20 a.m.
  • Someone called police at 2:35 p.m. to report a small dog inside a car in the Quito's parking lot on Thames Street.
  • A Wayland Road man told police that a strange man walked up to his daughter and her friend while they were swimming in his backyard pool, then ran into the bushes.
  • A Harrison Street resident complained of barking dogs at 7:46 p.m.
  • Police removed an unwanted person from a Hope Street porch at 9:07 p.m.
  • Someone complained of loud music at Mt. Hope Farm at 10:43 p.m.
  • Bonnie Nguyen, 18, of Dorchester, Ma., was charged with domestic simple assault/battery after police were called to Wood Street for a disturbance.

Saturday, Aug. 22

  • Police dispersed two loafers loitering at the Rockwell Dock at 4:27 a.m.
  • Someone called police to report a dog inside a vehicle at the Thames Street Landing parking lot at 3:17 p.m.
  • The town’s Marine 1 rescue boat assisted with an overturned boat at the Jamestown Bridge.
  • A State Street resident filed a noise complaint at 5:38 p.m.
  • A fireworks call came in from Basswood Road at 9:03 p.m.
  • Someone reported a house party on Prospect Street at 11:45 p.m.
  • A Greenway Drive man told police someone rang his doorbell and ran away at 11:46 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 23

  • Someone reported a man on the ground on John Street at 1:43 a.m. He was driven home to King Philip Avenue.
  • Someone complained about people smoking outside and making noise from 2 to 2:30 a.m. on Pearse Avenue.
  • A headstone at the North Burial Ground was vandalized.
  • An officer was called to DeWolf Avenue at 3:18 p.m. after a customer refused to pay for food delivered.
  • Derek J. Bouchard, 28,of 62 Catherine St., was charged with felony assault at 4:57 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 24

  • Officers investigated suspicious activity at Mt. Hope High School at 11:27 p.m. It was reportedly a man sitting on a bench taking a break from jogging.
  • Police got a call about a possible glider in the water near the Sakonnet River Bridge. Marine 1 was dispatched but was soon called off; the “glider” was a group of mylar balloons.
