The Bristol Police Department responded to the following class between May 15 and May 21:

Monday, May 15

Police responded to reports of a fight between a man and a woman on Hope Street at 10 a.m.

The argument turned out to be verbal only, and no charges were pressed.
A car was reportedly vandalized on Metacom Avenue. Police filed a report.

Tuesday, May 16

A resident on Wood Street complained of a Dumpster in the road a little after 8 a.m. The town Department of Public Works reported the Dumpster is allowed to be there for two weeks.

Another resident made the same complaint later Tuesday morning, also learning the same information.

A suspicious man in a gold Toyota SUV was reportedly scanning a cemetery on Sherry Avenue with binoculars at 10:30 a.m. He was gone when officers arrived.

An injured bat was found outside a home on Hope Street. Animal control responded.

Officers removed a man who was panhandling in violation of town ordinances outside a business on Gooding Avenue around 4 p.m.

Police removed a group of juveniles who were reportedly humping off the dock at Herreshoff Marine Museum.

A Mazda painted primer gray was reportedly driving recklessly on Lower Ferry Road, but police could not locate the car.

A caller reported a pickup truck was dumping construction material in the woods off Narrows Road, but police could only find a Jeep driver riding through the woods.

The traffic light at Metacom Avenue and Roosevelt Drive stopped working Around 8 p.m. The state DOT was notified.

A Poppasquash Road resident reported spotting a suspicious vehicle on the road at 11:30 p.m. There was no issue.

Wednesday, May 17

Police confiscated counterfeit bills at the Mt. Hope Bridge House on Ferry Road. There was no arrest reported.

A resident on Metacom Avenue called police to complain his neighbor was continually revving the engine on his boat. Police advised the man to stop.

A resident on Sousa Street complained of “a variety of noises coming from an unknown location” around 10 p.m. Police checked the area, finding nothing unusual. Sousa Street is the site of frequent complaints about neighbors, which are mostly unfounded.

Thursday, May 18

Police assisted with an asthma attack at Metacom and Gooding avenues just after 8 a.m. One person was brought to Rhode Island Hospital. The patient’s condition was not known.

A resident on Monroe Avenue called police at 10 a.m. to complain about a neighbor’s bumper stickers, which reportedly contained obscenities. There was no police action required.

A neighbor dispute over a loose dog in a backyard on Mt. Hope Avenue escalated while an animal control officer was present around 5 p.m. Police arrived and filed a report, but no arrest was made.

Police received a call from Pawtucket Memorial Hospital, which was treating a dog bite victim from Bristol. The patient was reportedly bitten on Kickemuit Avenue. Police filed a report.

Rhonda Silva, 49, of 394 Metacom Ave., Apt. 34, Bristol, was charged with felony shoplifting. South Kingstown Police arrested Ms. Silva in that town on the Bristol warrant.

A resident on Bay View Avenue complained of a loud party in the area at 10 p.m. There was no party, just a group of students walking toward Wood Street.

A resident on Sousa Street called again for “loud noises in the area” just after 10 p.m. Again, the complaint was unfounded.

Police broke up a loud party at Town Beach on Asylum Road at 11:30 p.m. There was no arrest made.

Friday, May 19

An officer noticed suspicious activity on Wood Street just before 1 a.m., which turned out to be an Uber driver returning a lost item to a previous passenger’s mailbox.

A loose pig was reportedly running through a yard on State Street around 8:30 a.m. Police located the pig’s owner.

Fishing gear was reportedly stolen from Greylock Road. Officers filed a report.

A resident reported items being stolen from gravesties at St. Mary’s Cemetery. No police action was needed. Residents have complained in the past of cemetery managers removing items left on gravestones.

Benjamin J. Choquette, 25, of 2 Evangeline Court, Bristol, was arrested on a domestic warrant.

A mountain bike was reportedly stolen on Bradford Street.

Officers spoke to parents of juveniles who were running in the road on Metacom Avenue just after 9 p.m.

Saturday, May 20

Police assisted Roger Williams University security with a drunk man who fled on foot on the campus just after midnight. He was caught and brought to St. Annes Hospital for treatment.

Officers responded to complaints of loud vehicles in the Bristol Harbor Inn parking lot, disturbing guests just before 2 a.m. The cars were gone when police arrived.

Animal control officers responded to multiple animal complaints throughout the day, including road kills, loose dogs and a loudly barking dog on Robin Drive at 8:40 p.m.

Sunday, May 21

Police broke up a loud party in a Wood Street apartment building just before 2 a.m.
Animal control was called back to Robin Drive just before 9 a.m. for the same loudly barking dog. Animal control officers issued the owner a written warning.

A resident on Poppasquash Road reported hearing a loud “pop” noise in the area just before the power went out around 4:30 p.m. Officers checked the area but could find nothing amiss.

Kaitlin M. Martel, 25, of 21 Sixth St., East Providence, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant for failure to appear in court on a previous charge.
