Bristol Police: Loud Zumba, fight in the street

Officers responded to a variety of calls last week

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between June 6 and June 12:
Monday, June 6
A resident reportedly dumped trash at the Bristol Animal Shelter on Minturn Farm Road. Police filed a report.
Kenneth A. Lambert, 64, of 39 First St., Bristol, was cited for driving with an expired license after being pulled over on Hope Street.
A neighbor of Guiteras School called police to complain of noise from the baseball field at 3:30 in the afternoon. Police are frequently called to the school for noise complaints during baseball games.

Tuesday, June 7
Police investigated complaints of two men “asking suspicious questions in a red Nissan” on Bay View Avenue just before 2 a.m. Police looked but could not find the car. There was no indication what questions the men were asking, but police reports indicate they were not threatening.
Police assisted with a disorderly conduct incident at Mt. Hope High School around 9 a.m. There was no arrest made.
Police helped with a dispute over towing charges on Cole Street around noon. Being a civil matter, there was no police action required.
Police helped break up a fight between two men on Congregational Street at 10:30 p.m.
Wednesday, June 8
Police investigated reports of someone trespassing in the construction site at the Rhode Island Veterans Home off Metacom Avenue. There was no one on the site. The noise was from material blowing around in the wind.
Police were called for an injured deer in the courtyard at Franklin Court assisted living facility. The state Department of Environmental Management was notified.
A pedestrian was taking pictures form the top of Mt. Hope Bridge just before noon. Pedestrians are not allowed on the bridge.
Thursday, June 9
A suspicious man on a red moped reportedly placed an object by the Mr. Potato Head in front of the Bristol Senior Center. There is no report on what the object was.
Police responded to several nuisance calls for noise complaints, injured animals, reckless drivers and the removal of “an unwanted party” on Metacom Avenue, Gooding Avenue, Oliver Street, Hope Street, Thompson Avenue, Annawamscutt Drive and Adelaide Avenue.
Friday, June 10
Officers helped a resident who could not find his car, which was parked on State Street.
Police were called to Sousa Street for a noise complaint at 8 p.m. and for a fireworks complaint an hour later. Both were unfounded. Sousa Street has long been the location of frequent unfounded nuisance complaints made against neighbors.
A resident on Mason Avenue called to complain of neighbors burning brush in the yard. The caller also reported her neighbors may have been doing drugs on their property.
Saturday, June 11
Police responded to reports of a fight in progress in the road on Ryan Avenue just before 11:30 p.m. Officers investigated and issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) for a woman driving a blue Nissan possible in Warren, Barrington or East Providence. She is wanted for domestic assault with a weapon.
Sunday, June 12
Police were called to Independence Park around 9 a.m. for a noise complaint. Apparently, a Zumba class was playing music too loudly for a nearby neighbor. Police used a noise meter to determine there was no violation of the town noise ordinance.
Police assisted with calls on the water, including a boat taking on water, kayakers unable to get back to shore and a missing wind surfer. All were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.
