A recent stroll down the bike path towards the “Broken Bridge” that is currently undergoing a reconstruction project from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation showed a lot of work still yet to be done. However, according to DOT Spokesman Charles St. Martin, everything is on track as planned.
“The project is on time and on budget and the bridge construction is currently expected to be finished by the end of summer,” he said in an email on Friday. “The next activity at the construction site will be the arrival of fiber-reinforced polymer sheeting necessary for continued construction of the foundations of the new bridge. Those materials are expected to arrive in the next couple of weeks.”
