Barrington Police Department organizes annual toy drive

The Barrington Police Department is once again collecting toys as part of its "Fill a Cruiser" holiday campaign.

For years, Barrington police officers have organized a toy collection program for less fortunate children in the area. People can stop by the Barrington Public Safety Building lobby and drop off a new, unwrapped toy. Those gifts will be donated to the Toys for Tots program, which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.

The Toys for Tots program, which is run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, was founded in 1947.

The Barrington Public Safety Building is located at 100 Federal Road in Barrington.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
