Carol Graham Fisher, 85, died peacefully on May 3 at Newport Hospital. Born in Astoria, Ore., she was the daughter of the last Velma (Andrews) and Russell Graham.

Carol was a graduate of Astoria High School and had a widely varied work career that included jobs as a telephone operator, dental assistant and real estate agent.

She was a kind and giving person who raised four children and spent many years caring for her mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.

She loved Oregon, playing cards, reading history and mystery novels, and arguing politics (she was a lifelong Democrat). But most of all, she loved her family, glowing with joy and pride at the accomplishments of each and every child and beaning with delight as they came to visit.

In her later years, she moved to Bristol to be near her daughter, Lisa James, and resided in Franklin Court. There she made many great friends and spoke with genuine gratitude for the camaraderie and the kindness of the staff. She was pre-deceased by one son and is survived by three children, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Buffy.

Carol will be interred near the graves of her parents in Oregon.
