Carroll: We’re open for business

Posted

Since I was elected to the town council four years ago, I’ve worked hard to make Barrington more business friendly. The three main things I called for and we implemented are:

• Created a new Economic Development Committee with local business owners to advise us on important issues;

• Hired a business liaison to help retain existing businesses and attract new ones;

• Overhauled the sign ordinance to make it much easier for businesses to get new, larger signs, and more of them.

Businesses are important because they enhance our community by bringing us together locally. They also support our local youth sports and arts programs, as well as our charities. Finally, they help diversify our tax base so that we rely less on residential property taxes.

If re-elected, I’ll keep working to make our town business friendly and ensure that Barrington is a great place to live, work and raise a family.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
