Christina Shoemaker, 47, formerly of Bristol, R.I., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Newport Hospital on July 27, 2018. Tina enjoyed the simple things in life and lived it to the fullest. Her infectious smile brought joy to everyone she encountered.
Tina is survived by her parents, George and Judy Shoemaker of Bristol, her brother, Christopher Shoemaker, sister Kimberly Cranson, brother-in-law Thomas Cranson, nephew Thomas Cranson Jr., her grandmothers, Ola Mae Shoemaker and Kathy Cranson, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, along with the five residents of the group home where she lived at 12 Beagle Drive in Middletown, R.I. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Shoemaker, Ralph Martin and Guida Martin.
A participant at the James L Maher center for over 20 years, Tina actively supported the community. She was a member of the Bridges bombers bowling team, Our Voices Count advocacy group and Women’s World social group. She enjoyed helping others, participating in the ALS walkathon and the Heart and Soul Walk to benefit the Potter League shelter for animals, where she also volunteered.
For 15 years, Tina delivered the Newport Daily News with a smile to neighboring homes.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, R.I.
Burial will be private.
