Christmas spirit to touch Town Common gazebo

Children and members of the community are invited to contribute to the decorations

It’s about to begin looking a lot like Christmas around Bristol, and not just downtown.

The gazebo at Town Common will also get a festive facelift again this year, thanks to one local resident who took it upon herself to add some Christmas cheer to the gazebo last year, in honor of America’s troops and veterans.

“Last year we did it to honor our soldiers, and the town asked me to do it again this year,” said Tammy Mojkowski, who used to live on High Street, just steps from the gazebo. She and six friends and family members spent their own money to buy a Christmas tree, wreaths and lights, and spent a Saturday decorating the gazebo for all in the town to enjoy.

This year, the process has grown, and Ms.Mojkowski won’t have to dig as deep into her own pockets. The Bristol Merchants Association has donated the tree and the wreaths, and her group of helpers has grown to 21. And she’s asking the community to take part as well.

Ms. Mojowski is asking children to donate ornaments to hang on the community’s tree and to honor America’s veterans. She and her crew will be on the Town Common Sunday, Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. Anyone wishing to contribute an ornament, or any extra red bows or white lights they may have, is welcome to stop by to help a truly grass-roots project to beautify that part of town for the season.
