Cirillo: There’s a difference between a public servant and politician

Posted

I have always felt that the Town Clerk should be foremost a public servant and not a politician. Public servants attend to and safeguard the public interest. They keep their noses to the grindstone and are always there when called upon, no matter the task or the hour. Public servants don’t worry about getting credit for what they do, finding satisfaction in a job well done, even if nobody notices.

Politicians strike confident poses and make flashy promises. They oversell themselves and tell their constituents what they think that they want to hear. They surround themselves with other politicians who do and say just about anything to get what they want.

In my fourteen years in office, I have worked very hard to be your public servant. I have given freely of my time, knowledge, and experience to get your work done, and hope to continue to do so.

Lou Cirillo
