Colt School is a step closer in getting back to it's former glory in Bristol

Alpha Omega Construction crew from East Providence put the second set of marble steps into place on Wednesday, Oct. 11, and are moving to the final stages of getting the Colt School back to it's former glory. A project originally intended to repair and restore the front facade, steps and walkway hit lengthy delays after workers found the support structure beneath the marble steps and patio were badly eroded. They had to go back to the drawing board and rebuild the foundation, and the original marble is now going back into place. The project was estimated to be $406,622 for the facade and walkway repairs. Up to 64 percent is eligible for reimbursement from state Housing Aid funds. The remainder (up to $140,000) is being paid from the Colt School Fund, which was originally created when the school was built and gifted to the town in 1908.
