Concerts at the Point

Concerts at the Point will present the third concert of its 2017-2018 season on Sunday December 10,  with rising star pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute.

Ms. Jokubaviciute was praised by the New York Times as an artist of commanding technique, refined temperament and persuasive insight. 

She will present a program of music by Liszt (En Reve, Les Jeux d'eau a la Villa d'este, and Andante lagrimoso from Harmonies Poetiques et Religieuses); Scriabin Second Piano Sonata, and Schumann Fantasie in C Major. The program will also include a composition by Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir for prepared piano titled Scape.



Concerts are held at the Westport Point United Methodist Church, 1912 Main Road, Westport Point. Concert at 3pm; doors open at 2:15pm. Open seating. Tickets $25, Students $10. Tickets may be purchased on line at www.concertsatthepoint.org. Tickets may be reserved by calling 508 636 0698. Reserved tickets may be picked up and paid for at the door on the day of the concert; cash or personal checks only.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
