Domenic Michael Grimo, 92, of Bristol

Domenic Michael Grimo, 92, of Oliver Street passed away on Oct. 13, 2018, at Silver Creek Manor. He was the husband of Ida (Florenzano) Grimo.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Frank and Michelina (LoRusso) Grima. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Stephen Grimo and his wife Charlene of Bristol, and Madeline Cappucci and her husband Domenic of Bristol; grandsons, Brian Grimo and his wife Liberty of Vero Beach Fla., Scott Grimo of Somerset, Mass., and Ryan Cappucci and his wife Jennifer of Bristol; and great-grandson, Luciano Grimo. He was the brother of the late Michael Grimo, Pauline Calvino and Frances Ruggiero.

Mr. Grimo was educated in Bristol and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was employed by Kaiser Aluminum for 39 years before retiring.

His funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 19, at 10:30 a.m. from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground.

Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
