Donna C. (Lindberg) Strickland, 66, of Warren, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 at the Hope Hospice. She was the wife of Robert M. Strickland; they were married for over 44 years.

Mrs. Strickland was born in Providence, a daughter of the late Raymond and Rita (Champagne) Lindberg. A self -employed child care worker, she lived in Warren for over 44 years since coming from Scituate.

Donna was a member of the Monday Night Women’s League at Dudek Lanes. She was a coach and volunteer for the Bristol Baysiders Special Olympics Team and a member of the Thursday Night Couples League at the Swansea Country Club. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Beside her husband, she leaves her sons, Peter Strickland of Wyoming, RI and Robert G. Strickland of Warren. She is also survived by her brothers, William Champagne of Warwick and Wayne Champagne of West Warwick; and nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI. Burial will follow in the South Burial Ground, Sowamsett Avenue, Warren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Tuesday, Jan. 3 from 4 to 7 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
