As a strong supporter of the new R.I. Veterans’ Home, I was proud to be working in the Assembly when the cornerstone was laid through the ribbon cutting ceremony that followed. We are honored to be the community that hosts such an innovative national model for how we care for those who have served our country.
The state must maintain these facilities and ensure the highest quality of care as we continue to look for opportunities for veterans to access our beautiful East Bay towns. I am working with advocates and the DEM to develop a universally accessible fishing pier behind the Veterans’ Home that will provide unobstructed views of the bay for everyone — including those who use mobility aids. I look forward to continuing this partnership with our veterans in the next legislative session, so we can continue to lead the way in preserving their quality of life.
