Doris L. Vincent, 89, of The Highlands in Topsham, Maine, died Saturday, July 22, 2017 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late John B. and Claire (Paradis) Duperre and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henri L. Vincent, who died on May 14, 2005. They were married for 49 years. Doris was born May 31, 1928 in Fall River, MA.

She lived a short time in Fall River before moving to Warren, RI, where she attended St. John Baptiste Parochial School. She graduated in 1946 from St. Mary Bayview Academy. She then went to work for nine years at New England Telephone in the Accounting Office in Providence, RI before marrying Henri L. Vincent on Oct. 8, 1955 in Warren, RI.  Doris and Henri moved to Ellenville, NY due to Henri’s job.

She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed singing in the choir, playing the piano, doing crossword puzzles, reading and working in the yard and tending to her beautiful flowers and rose bushes. She loved to cook, bake and entertain her friends and family.

She was a devout Catholic. She attended St. Mary’s and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Ellenville and had been attending St. Charles Borromeo Church in Brunswick, ME. She sang in the choir at both churches and also St. John’s Catholic Church in Warren, RI, where Henri was the Choir Director. Doris and Henri moved to Topsham, ME to be near their son and family.

Doris is survived by her two loving children, son Henri J. (Ann) Vincent of Brunswick, ME and daughter Claire L. (Gene) Kokenburg of Albany, NY; two cherished granddaughters, Olivia M. Vincent and Maria C. Vincent, both of Brunswick, ME; two sisters and brothers-in law, Pauline (George) Duclos of Westport, MA and Lucille (Robert) Stringer of Warren, RI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, July 27 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick, Maine. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 27 at 1 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Church-All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick, ME. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made either to United Cerebral Palsy of Rhode Island, 200 Main St., Suite 210, Pawtucket, RI 02860 or to The Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter, 383 US Rt 1 Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
