Doris M. Hookey, 92, Westport

Doris M. (Weiss) Hookey, 92, of Westport, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Adams House in Fall River after a brief illness.  She was the wife of the late Ernest T. Hookey.

Born November 5, 1924 in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Elmer Max and Edna Mae (Humphries) Weiss, she had lived in Rhode Island for most of her life prior to moving to Westport in 2011.  Prior to retirement, she was an assistant vice president at Fleet Bank (now Bank of America).  She volunteered at Miriam Hospital for 19 years before moving to Westport.  Once she relocated, she also volunteered  at Charlton Memorial hospital for a few years.  For the past several years, she had served as an active volunteer at the Westport Council on Aging.

Survivors include her son, Lawrence R. Hookey and his wife Anne Fitzgerald of Westport; a brother, John A. Weiss and his wife Sarah of Lincoln, RI; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late James F., Malcolm H., Ernest W. and Elmer R. Weiss and the late Edna G. Forte.

Funeral service, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Monday, April 3, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport at 11 a.m.

Visitation will be Monday from 10 -11 a.m. prior to the service.

Interment will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.
