Dorothy A. Longo, of Barrington

Dorothy A. (DeStefano) Longo, formerly of Barrington, passed away peacefully while in residence at the Grace Barker Nursing Center in Warren, one day after her 93rd birthday.

Born in Newport on St. Patrick’s Day in 1924, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Ionta) DeStefano and adored everything Irish, including her extensive collection of Beleek China. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Carlo, to whom she was married for 68 years.

Dorothy was a loving and faithful woman who was passionate about many things, the greatest of which were music and playing bridge. She was voted “Most Musical” at L.R. Peck High School, Class of 1942, and served as organist and choir director at Holy Angels Church in Barrington for 25 years.

Dorothy was the loving mother of Carl A. Longo and his wife Roseann of Providence, Dennis M. Longo and his wife Joanne of Attleboro, Mass., Mary Ann Cicerchia and her husband Robert of Coventry, Barbara Longo Ferreira and her husband Victor of Warren, and Christine M. Longo and her companion Robert LaMountain of Pawtucket. She was the devoted grandmother of Tracy A. Guerra, Robert M. Cicerchia, Matthew C. Cicerchia, Carly Longo and Antonia Longo. She was the adoring great-grandmother of Jacob and Ella Cicerchia. Dorothy was the sister of Barbara A. Lefebvre of Swansea, Mass. and the late Amalia “Molly” DiCicco.

Her funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 23, from Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Ave., Barrington. Burial will follow at Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the funeral home.
