Dorothy Gladding Huse, 90, of Florida

Dorothy Gladding Huse, of Fort Myers, Fla., died on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at the age of 90. Dot was born in Barrington, and is survived by her husband of 68 years, Walter, three children: Patricia, Allison (Bruce) Nunn, Preston (Bonnie), 8 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. 

From an early age, Dot spread her love through community service, choral groups and church activities. A memorial service will be held at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. on Nov. 18. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund at Wesley Memorial or to The Florida United Methodist Children’s Home.

The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to the national Cremation and Burial Society.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
