Dorothy L. (Lemaire) Moren, age 93, of Bristol, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at the Grace Barker Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Richard A. Moren, with whom she shared 49 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Bristol, a daughter of the late Oliver J. and Rose A. (Montplaisir) Lemaire, she was a lifelong resident of Bristol and enjoyed wintering in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and summers on Hog Island in Portsmouth.

A graduate of Colt High School, Class of 1942, she also graduated from the Truesdale School of Nursing and Rhode Island College. She was a member of the Army Nurse Cadet Corps during World War II.

Early on in her career she worked at U.S. Rubber and Kaiser Aluminum and later as a Registered Nurse at the former Truesdale Hospital in Fall River for 26 years before retiring in 1978 and was a member of their Alumni Association.

Mrs. Moren served on the board of directors for the Hog Island Improvement Association. She enjoyed spending time on the island fishing, quahogging, participating in water sports and reading a good book. She supported the American Indian Clinic Schools, was a charter member of the Bristol Jr. Women’s Club, a member of the Bristol Y.M.C.A and served on the board of directors for the Bristol Scholarship Fund.

An avid sailor, she enjoyed boating and traveling to both Florida and Maine with her husband. Artistically talented, Mrs. Moren enjoyed early American Tray and Tole painting.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Moren and his wife Victoria, and Robert A. Moren, all of Bristol; two sisters, Eleanor Lemaire of N. Kingstown, R.I., and Jeanette LaRiviere of S. Windsor, Conn; eight nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Evelyn Lamoureux.
