The Barrington and North Kingstown girls basketball teams participated in a special "Salute to Service" game on Friday, Jan. 18.
The Eagles defeated the Skippers 47-34, led by Olivia Middleton's 27 points. Alex Marinelli dropped in 11 points and Patricia Ceseretti finished with seven.
The "Salute to Service" awareness campaign, which is sponsored by the Rhode Island Interscholastic League and the Rhode Island Army National Guard, is intended to show support for those who have sacrificed for Americans' freedoms.
The RI Army National Guard provided the special camouflage uniforms to the teams, "in an effort to unite the teams and our communities in showing support for our local veterans."
At halftime, Barrington High School junior Emma Singer participated in the RI Army National Guard Beat the Clock halftime contest.
