The Barrington High School baseball team rebounded from losses to Wheeler and Tolman, and defeated Woonsocket on Thursday, May 4.

Playing in their third game in three days, Barrington scored five runs in the third inning against Woonsocket and rolled to a 9-2 victory. The win, paired with an 8-4 loss to Wheeler and a 7-0 loss to Tolman, moved Barrington's record to 4-7, as the Eagles start the second half of the season.

Against Woonsocket, Nick Peecher got the start for the Eagles and pitched 6 innings, giving up two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. The strong outing marked his first varsity win. Owen Roberts closed out the game with a clean seventh inning to finish off the visitors.

The Eagles' offense tallied nine runs on eight hits, led by Liam McManus who had three hits including a double and 3 RBI. Andrew Conaty smashed two hits, had a walk and drove in a run, Matt Zeleznik had a hit, walked twice and drove in two runs, and Nick Rondeau had a hit, walked once and drove in a run. Deven Connors and Owen Roberts also made key contributions for the Eagles' offense. McManus continued his hot hitting with another multi-hit game, his third in a row on his current four-game hitting streak.

BHS vs. Wheeler

Barrington traveled to Wheeler on Wednesday for a Division II matchup. The game was back and forth into the bottom of the sixth when Wheeler plated three runs and held on to beat the Eagles 8-4.

Matt Zeleznik got the start for the Eagles and pitched three innings, giving up four runs on four hits and struck out three. Cabot Maher pitched three innings of relief, giving up four runs on four hits, striking out five.

The Eagles offense managed eight walks but only four hits versus the Wheeler pitching staff. Barrington hitters were led by Liam McManus with two hits and one RBI, Maher with one hit and three walks, Matt Macaluso with one hit (first varsity hit) and a walk and Collin Morowitz with one RBI.

BHS vs. Tolman

On Tuesday, May 2, Barrington squandered some scoring chances and eventually lost 7-0 to Tolman.

The Eagles missed opportunities to score versus the Tolman starter by leaving many runners on base from the third inning on, running into outs on the basepaths and erasing some good scoring chances.

Andrew Conaty got the start for the Eagles pitching 5 and 1/3 innings of four-hit baseball with three walks and seven strikeouts. He left the game with a 3-0 deficit.

Tolman scored all 3 runs in the first inning, putting the Eagles on their heels early. The middle innings were made up of good pitching on both sides, and good defensive plays by Tolman to keep the Eagles off the board.  The visitors added four runs late to close out the scoring.

The Eagles offense was led by Liam McManus with two hits, and Collin Morowitz and Nick Rondeau had one hit each.
