Eagles crush Patriots in girls lacrosse

The Barrington High School girls' lacrosse team exploded for 10 first half goals and rolled to a 12-0 victory over Portsmouth on Friday, April 8.

Maeve Gaffney and Molly Coogan each scored three goals, while Clare Gaffney added two goals and one assist for the Eagles.

Barrington controlled the action from the start against Portmouth. The Eagles' offense applied a steady pressure against the Patriots' defense.

Eight Barrington players cracked the scoring column. In addition to Maeve Gaffney, Molly Coogan and Clare Gaffney, the Eagles also received a scoring punch from Julia Soares (one goal, one assist), Caroline Larisa (two goals), Hope Robertson (one goal, one assist), Katherine Ferdenzi (one assist) and Julia Bramner (one assist).

The Eagles' victory came on Portsmouth's home field, as officials moved the contest to the artificial turf surface. Barrington officials were concerned with the conditions of Victory Field following snow and rain early last week.
