The Barrington High School boys indoor track team opened the winter season with a win over Moses Brown, 85-22, and a loss to LaSalle, 64-43. The meet was held on Wednesday night, Dec. 12, at the Providence Career and Technical Academy.

Brendan Fay ran to a first place finish in the 3,000-meter race, clocking a time of 9:13.48. Barrington's 4x200-meter relay team also ran well, defeating teams from LaSalle and Moses Brown. The team includes Andrew Blazewicz, Aaron Brady, Walter Joachim-DelPoio and Ben Geoghegan.

Blazewicz won the high jump event, clearing the bar at five feet. His teammate, Jack Silva, finished second while clearing the bar at the same height.

Joachim-DelPoio finished first in the 55-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.34 seconds. Jack Cheng was second with a time of 8.98 seconds.

In the shot put, William Cauley finished first against Moses Brown and second against LaSalle. Cauley had a personal best distance of 40-feet, 7.5-inches.

Cauley had a similar finish in the weight throw, winning first against Moses Brown and second against LaSalle.

Jackson Duffy had a long jump distance of 17 feet, which was strong enough to defeat his LaSalle opponents and take third against Moses Brown.

Barrington High School Indoor Track Coach Bill Barrass said this year's team has 50 members, including "a lot of young, new talent developing."
