Andrew Conaty throws complete game four-hitter

The Barrington High School baseball team ran its record to 2-1 by beating Exeter West Greenwich 1-0 on Tuesday, April 12.

Pitching and defense led the way as Andrew Conaty threw a complete game four-hitter for the Eagles. Conaty struck out three and did not register a single walk.

Eagles open season with victory over Chariho.

All of the scoring for the Eagles came in the first inning as Mike Pfeffer singled, Cabot Maher and Owen Roberts walked, and George Connelly's sacrifice fly to right scored Pfeffer.

The defense had to hold the lead and was stellar all day as each position player had multiple put-outs. A 5-4-3 double play from Pfeffer to Connelly to Roberts snuffed out an Exeter-West Greenwich threat in the third inning to preserve the 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Knights rallied to get runners on first and second base with one out, but a foul out and a strikeout with the winning run on first base ended the hard-fought game by both teams.

The Eagles offense was led by hits from Matt Zeleznik (double), Pfeffer (single) and Liam McManus (single), along with 4 walks.
