Earth Day groundbreaking ceremony to kick off construction of the Bosworth Memorial Garden at Linden Place Mansion.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Ros Bosworth Memorial Garden will take place on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 2 p.m. on the grounds of historic Linden Place Mansion, 500 Hope Street, Bristol. There will be a short program followed by refreshments.

The garden will honor Roswell Bosworth, Jr., who passed away in 2017. Mr. Bosworth was not only a nationally admired newspaperman, WWII Army Air Force aviator and sailor, he was also a leader in his community of Bristol, a Bristol Fourth of July Parade chief marshal and one of the founding members and earliest supporters of The Friends of Linden Place.

The memorial garden, to be built in the southeast corner of Linden Place’s gardens, will include a new path and beds for flowers and plants, new shrubs, a tree, a bench for sitting and enjoying the garden setting and a memorial statue in Bosworth’s honor.

Work on the garden will begin immediately following the ceremony and Linden Place is looking for volunteers to help with both creating and maintaining it. Donations for the garden are also being accepted.
