East Providence hosts 13th annual WinterFest celebration

The City of East Providence and WinterFest Committee presents the 13th annual WinterFest celebration on Saturday, December 9, at the East Providence Senior Center. WinterFest is a free event that promises fun for the whole family!

Festivities begin at 3 p.m. with Dave Marchetti’s “Animal Experiences” petting zoo, free popcorn, hot chocolate, and children’s crafts and games! Entertainment by Rick Ashman. Food concessions by Joe’s Snack Shack. 

The public is invited to stroll the beautifully decorated WinterFest landscape while waiting for Santa’s arrival by firetruck. Upon his arrival, Santa will preside over the WinterFest tree lighting. Immediately following the tree lighting, children will be able to visit with Santa, receive a candy treat, and enter the WinterFest bicycle raffle!

WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.

WHERE: East Providence Senior Center, 610 Waterman Ave.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
