CENTRAL FALLS — An East Providence man was among eight men arrested by Central Falls Police Wednesday, Aug. 26, as part of an ongoing prostitution sting in the city.
Some 30 people have been arrested to date in the operation called "John Sting" over the three months. Wednesday, Alan Adams, 62, of East Providence, was rounded up in the latest sweep.
According to CFPD, Carlos Aguilar, 38 of Central Falls, was charged with procurement of sexual conduct for a fee. Mr. Adams and six others were charged with soliciting from a motor vehicle for indecent purposes. The other six men were Donald Bardon, 64, of Central Falls; Albert Elgin, 42, of Central Falls; Kevin Day, 47, of Pawtucket; Michael Phaneuf, 53, of Pawtucket; Juan Henao, 38, of Central Falls; and Michael Rainville, 33, of Central Falls.
In total 23 men and seven women have been arrest as part of the operation. Three undercover female police officers from participating departments were recruited to work the beat of suspected high-traffic prostitution areas of the city.
According to CFPD, the men, except for Mr. Phaeuf, were arraigned Wednesday by a District Court bail commissioner and released with a date to appear back in court on September 9. Mr. Phaneuf, a bail violator, was held as a bail violator and scheduled to appear in District Court Thursday, Aug. 27.
