EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence Police have arrested a Providence man on multiple charges of alleged child molestation.

In a statement issued by EPPD Detective Lieutenant Raymond Blinn, it was announced Matthew Golding, 32 and of 24 Cambridge St., Providence, has been brought up on charges of two counts of First Degree Child Molestation and two counts of Second Degree Child Molestation.

The statement reads on January 16, 2019, the EPPD received a report of a possible molestation in which Mr. Golding was the suspect in the incident occurring at an East Providence address from September 2017 and February 2018.

EPPD Special Victims Unit Detective Michael Spremulli initiated an investigation into the allegations. The inquiry was conducted with assistance from the State Department of Children Youth and Families, Rhode Island Probation and Parole Office, and the State Attorney General’s Office. The examination concluded there was sufficient evidence to request an arrest warrant for Mr. Golding, which was signed earlier on Thursday, Jan. 24.

At approximately 10:15 a.m, members of the EPPD Detective Bureau, Providence Police Detective Bureau, Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the State Department of Probation & Parole executed the arrest warrant at the Providence address of Mr. Golding. Concurrently, East Providence Detectives executed a search warrant at the suspected East Providence address.

Mr. Golding, who had a previous arrest for Possession of Child Pornography and is a registered Sex Offender, was located at 24 Cambridge St. by police and was taken into custody without incident. Additional evidence was located at that scene and the Providence Police will be adding charges against Mr. Golding. Several items of interest were also seized from the East Providence address and held as evidence.

Mr. Golding was scheduled be arraigned on the charges later in the day, January 24.
