Eduardo A. Pereira, 80, Bristol

Mr. Eduardo A. Pereira, 80, of Defiance Avenue, Bristol, died Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his home, following an unexpected illness. He was the husband of Maria de Lourdes (Pascoal) Pereira, his wife of 53 years.

Born in Rebeira Seca, Sao Miquel, Acores, he was a son of the late Antonio and Ester (Anselmo) Pereira. A resident of Bristol for 52 years, Eduardo owned and operated the former Pereira Auto Body Shop in Bristol for 50 years, retiring in 2002. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church and was a member of the Holy Ghost Society.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Zita M. Bolton (Joseph); two grandsons, Joseph E. and Thomas R. Bolton, all of Bristol; a brother, Raimundo Pereira (Conceicao) of Bristol; two sisters, Elzira Pereira (Jose) of Bristol and Agueda Correiro of Sao Miquel, Acores. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Manuel and Antonio Couto, Alfred, Jose and Joao Pereira; and sisters Maria Ilda Pimentel and Cecilia Goulart.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017 at 8 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, Aug. 2, 4-7 p.m.
