Edward A. Watters, 78, of Colebrook Road, Little Compton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at home. He was the husband of Sandra H. (Stocklinski) Watters. They were married for 56 years. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Irving and Phyllis (Ashton) Watters.
Mr. Waters was an engineer for General Electric Base Works Division for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was a graduate of Roger Williams College with a B.S. degree.
He was an avid volunteer: Federal Hill House — VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program), Retired Senior Volunteer, served as board chair on the Senior Advisory Council, computer instructor — teaching computer to veterans re-enetering the community, prepared taxes for low income families, trained college students to do tax preparation and mentored many staff members, Insight — read for the blind for 20 years, Rhode Island Legal/Education Partnership — Chief Trial Official for 15 years performing in over 100 mock trials, Arbor Hill — health promotion for the elderly, City Year — original member of the Advisory Committee, once named Volunteer of the Year for the City of Providence, Master Mason for 42 years and was one of the two oldest karate students in Providence.

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Kevin E. Watters of Fall River, Keith E. Watters (Diane) of East Greenwich, NY, Kenneth E. Watters (Toni) of Little Compton, and one daughter, Kimberly E. Aguiar (Joe) of Somerset, and 14 grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. in United Congregational Church, Little Compton. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements by Fern Acres Funeral Home.
