Edward S. McAndrew, of Tiverton, 87, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016. He was the loving husband of Marion F. (McHenry) Sheehan McAndrew to whom he was married 42 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late John H. and Margaret M. (Sweeney) McAndrew, he had been a resident of Tiverton for nearly 40 years.
Mr. McAndrew was a US Air Force veteran having served directly for the Wing Commander as Airman First Class during the Korean Conflict from January 1951 – December 1953.
Mr. McAndrew was a compositor for the Fall River Herald from 1944-1979 as well as a graphic design artist for the Naval Underwater Systems Center and at the Naval War College.
A lifetime member of the Fall River Lodge of Elks 118, he also served as a Eucharistic Minister and taught CCD classes at Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton and enjoyed golf, tennis and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, John H. McAndrew of Somerset; four nieces; one nephew; several great nieces and great nephews; and stepchildren, Paul, Edwin, and Mary Louise Sheehan. He was the brother of the late Richard B. McAndrew, Ann St. Pierre and Helen Costa.
His funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, at 8:30 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, 316 Judson St., Tiverton. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Relative and friends are invited.
