EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Police Department on Tuesday, Sept. 12, released details related to a single-car, roll-over accident which took place two days earlier on Veterans Memorial Parkway and took the life of a city man.

According to the report provided by Captain Michael J. Rapoza, the EPPD Services Division Commander/Public Information Officer, officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash on the Parkway near Burgess Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday, September 10.

Upon arrival, officers observed a sedan on its passenger side, fully engulfed in flames. East Providence Fire Department were also called to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire.

One person was inside the vehicle, its operator later identified as 28 year-old Alexsander Rodriguez Santos of East Providence. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

The East Providence Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the crash. Initial considerations make it likely speed was a significant factor.

If you have any information regarding the crash, please contact the EPPD Traffic Unit at 401-435-7600, extension 20070.
