Evelyn Rohrman, 94, of Bristol

Evelyn (Medeiros) Rohrman, 94, of Bristol, entered into eternal rest on Nov. 12, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Manuel Medeiros and Delia (Bothelo) Medeiros. She was the beloved wife of the late William Rohrman, Sr.

Evelyn was born and raised in Bristol. She was an active communicant at St. Mary’s Church, Bristol, where she belonged to the Women’s Guild. She was a devoted wife and homemaker alongside her husband, a 20-year Navy veteran, and their family. She loved to cook, bake, and was an accomplished seamstress for her children. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Most of all, her primary focus was family.  

She is survived by her children, Evelyn “Nena” Bucko and her husband Robert, Jane Payton and her husband Ray, Karl Rohrman and his wife Kathy, and Susan Rohrman, as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Evelyn also leaves behind her sisters, Dorothy Matrone, Agnes Campanella and Theresa Ormerod. She was predeceased by her son, Billy Rohrman, and brother, Ronald Medeiros.

Visiting hours will be held at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, on Friday, Nov. 17, from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
