Eyes on Owls: a live owl show, in Westport

Naturalists Mark and Marcia Wilson will present live owls one at a time with each owl perched securely on Marcia’s gloved hand. The owls presented have permanent disabilities which prevent them from surviving on their own in the wild. These non-releasable owls are captivating ambassadors from the world of wildlife. Attendees are in for a fun hooting lesson and close-up views of these secretive birds of prey! This program is not recommended for children under 5.

WHERE: Westport High School, 19 Main Road, Westport
WHEN: Saturday, April 7; 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
COST: $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-11

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
