A Barrington Police officer spotted a vehicle traveling on Sowams Road without its headlights on at about 2 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9.
The officer ordered the vehicle over to the side of the road. Police said they could smell the odor of alcohol coming from the driver, but the man passed a field sobriety test.
During the incident, an officer noticed the man grabbing at his waistband. The man then told police that he was carrying a pistol. Police seized the gun — a 9 mm handgun. Police then charged Bryce Niles Anton, 21, of Fall River, with license or permit required for carrying pistol, and carrying a weapon while intoxicated.
Police said that while Mr. Anton had passed the field sobriety test, he did admit to consuming a couple of glasses of wine that night.
