Family Volunteer Event: Literacy Rocks!

Posted

During April vacation, United Way's Family Volunteer Day, Literacy Rocks! focuses on helping children fall in love with reading. Families of all sizes and ages join the fun of creating one-of-a-kind literacy kits that are donated to local children to help them build their own home libraries.

Each kit contains a new children’s book, as well as reading aids such as puppets, games, or other props inspired by the story. Families bring their favorite book to donate, and then have a blast creating the kits: each one becomes its own work of art.

Consider spending some time this April volunteering with your family, and join us in our efforts to encourage a love of reading for young Rhode Islanders.
