Farmer cited in Warren hay accident

A Warren farmer has been cited after the hay trailer he was hauling in Touisset last Tuesday broke free and injured a jogger.

Byron Kee, 61, of Barton Lane, was cited for failure to register his trailer, Deputy Warren Police Chief Joseph Loiselle said Friday.

The accident occurred early Tuesday afternoon, July 7, as Mr. Kee hauled a trailer loaded with hay south on Long Lane. The trailer broke free from the tow vehicle and veered into the northbound lane, pinning a 47-year-old Swansea jogger underneath and against a stone wall. The woman did not see the trailer coming toward her until it was too late, Deputy Chief Loiselle said. She was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with a hip and leg injuries.
