A stone’s throw from perhaps the most famous parade route in the country, and a block to the Bristol waterfront, is a meticulously restored 1812 federal colonial.
The 3,100 square-foot home with four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms is located at 45 Union St. in the heart of downtown Bristol. It was built by Nathan Bishop, who was born in Rhode Island in 1778 during the birth of our nation. He bought the land from Samuel Smith in 1810 for $330. Bishop died in 1822, leaving the property to his widow, Sarah Bishop, who sold the land in 1925 for $400.

Dozens of open houses are scheduled around the East Bay today. Chem them out here.

The current home owners have restored more than 10 historic homes. This is their favorite, the said, and they have added their personal touch to the interior and exterior design, creating a gem in the heart of historic Bristol.
“We never want to leave the yard in the summer,” they said, noting talking to the beach, shopping and restaurants is a bonus they will miss.
With all the conveniences of a modern, up-to-date home, there are magnificent original details that marry old and new and create a comfortable environment, all thoughtfully executed by the owners.
The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and cherry cabinets, and opens up to the dining room. The great room features built-ins and one of seven fireplaces found throughout the home. The master suite is conveniently located on the first floor with a renovated bathroom with shower and separate tub. A sunroom with a beautiful slate floor is used year-round and opens to a deck overlooking the private backyard.
Three bedrooms and a living area are on the second floor, as is a full bathroom. Starts to the third floor attic add extra storage space.
A two-car detached garage and studio in the rear of the property, and a finely manicured garden make the backyard a private oasis, despite its downtown location.
The home is available for the asking price of $745,000. For more information or to schedule a viewing, contact Barbara Stamp with Residential Properties at 401-480-5574.

He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
