Ferdinand R. DeRensis, 95, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at the Maine Medical Center. He leaves behind his best friend and devoted companion, his dog Charlie. He was the beloved father of Patricia Wakem and husband Keith of Scarborough, Maine and Marilyn Beauparlant and husband Paul of Lewiston, Maine.

Ferdinand, a lifelong resident of Barrington, Rhode Island, was born on Sept. 22, 1922 in Warren, Rhode Island, a son of the late Nicholas and Adeline DeRensis. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Gloria, two brothers and two sisters.

As a child he lived in Warren and was the last living member of the “Sons of Madaleens,” a neighborhood group of friends who continued their relationship throughout their lives with an annual gathering. He proudly served his country in World War II from 1943 to 1946 in France, Germany and the Pacific. Ferdinand touched many lives through his love of cooking and generosity to others and his talent of being a jack of all trades. He and his wife Gloria built a beautiful home together and shared it during many family gatherings. He took great pride in his family and their accomplishments. To sum up Ferdie’s life one of his nephews said “God broke the mold when he made this man!”

He is survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer (Wakem) Watkins and husband Jason of Cape Cod, MA; Melissa (Wakem) Bozek and husband Jeff of Scarborough, ME; Stephen Beauparlant and wife Kathleen of Salem, MA and Matthew Beauparlant of Annandale, VA. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Keith & Phoebe Watkins, Isabelle, Addison and Harper Bozek and Henry Beauparlant.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday, Dec. 17 from 3 to 6 PM at the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, Rhode Island. On Monday, Dec. 18 at 10 AM, a mass will be held at Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Ave., Barrington, followed by a military graveside burial in St. Alexander Cemetery, Warren, Rhode Island.
