Fernando Cesar Raposo, 85, of Metacom Avenue, Bristol, passed away on March 7, 2018, at home.  He was the husband of Maria do Amordevino (Almeida) Raposo.

Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Raposo Cabral and Maria deJesus (Costa). In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Fernando Raposo and his wife Aura, and Berta Raposo; grandchildren, Chelsi Raposo, Nicholas Raposo, Alyssa Raposo; and brothers, Jordao Cabral and Jacinto Cabral. He was the father of the late Adelino Raposo and brother of the late Flore Berta Raposo, Carlos Cabral and Juvencio Raposo.

Mr. Raposo was educated in Portugal, where he was an established dairy farmer. He immigrated to the US in 1967 and worked in the construction industry for longtime employer JM Rosa of Orange, Conn., Forte Bros. Construction of Cumberland, R.I., and was self-employed with Raposo Construction Inc.

During this time, he continued pursuing his farming passion and trained bulls for the cultural tradition of cart pulling, often participating in the Holy Ghost processions as a devotion to his strong faith.

His funeral services were held March 10 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard A. Narciso at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Liturgical readings were by Cristina Raposo and Alexis Lobo. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Cassandra Young.
