Bicyclists crash head-on; man passes out

Posted

Twice last week Barrington police and fire officials responded to the East Bay Bike Path for medical emergencies.

On Friday, July 20, police received a call at about 5 p.m., after two bicyclists collided head-on. The accident involved a 17-year-old boy traveling south on the bike path, and a 41-year-old man biking north. The two collided near the bike path's intersection with Middle Highway. The teenager refused transportation to the hospital.

On Saturday, July 21, a 55-year-old man from Portsmouth lost consciousness after riding his bike on the path. The man had stopped near the intersection with County Road, got off his bike and sat on a rock. He then passed out and fell off the rock. A passing police officer noticed a group of people gathered around the man and stopped to help. The man was transported to a hospital.
