Flu clinics planned at Barrington schools

Clinics are open to students, staff and family members

There will be two flu clinics held at local schools for students, staff and family members from Barrington public schools.

The first clinic will be held at Sowams Elementary School on Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The second flu clinic will be held at Barrington High School on Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

People are recommended (but not required) to register online at www.schoolflu.com.

People with insurance should bring their cards, but there is no out-of-pocket cost for anyone (no money will be collected).

Students, staff and family members from all schools are invited to attend either clinic. For more clinic dates and locations, visit www.health.ri.gov/flu or call 222-5960.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
