A handful of Barrington High School graduates who are now competing for their Division I college track teams have been performing quite well recently.
Robyn McFetters broke her University of Maine hammer throw record with a throw of 61.09 meters. The record-breaking toss happened at the Wildcat Invitational at the University of New Hampshire. The throw ranks her 18th nationally. Robyn holds both her school's indoor and outdoor weight throw records. Also, Barrington High School graduate and former University of Maine teammate Wilson Adams holds both school records on the men's side.
Adam Kelly, a recent Barrington High School graduate and current freshman at Princeton University, improved his national ranking to 16th in the hammer throw with a winning throw of 66.57 meters at the Princeton Outdoor Invitational recently.
Former Barrington High School standout Charlie Ionata, a junior at Wake Forest, is ranked 26th nationally with a personal best throw of 65.15 meters. That throw came at the recent Wake Forest Open.
Mike Alvernaz, a recent graduate of Barrington and current freshman at Troy (Alabama), recorded a new personal best throw of 52.88 meters at the Jaguar Opener in Mobile, Ala.
At Division III Williams College, freshman James Heinl, who starred at Barrington, is currently ranked 27th nationally in the javelin throw. Heinl had a throw of 56.79 meters at the Pt. Loma Lazarene Invitational in San Diego, Calif. He also recorded a personal best hammer throw of 46.49 meters at the Dick Farley Invitational at MIT recently.
